Dr. Gehrig Broxton

Dr. Gehrig Broxton is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who is committed to improving and preserving the vision of patients in Western North Carolina by offering both medical and surgical treatments for a variety of ophthalmic conditions. Using modern surgical techniques for cataract removal, he offers a variety of lens placement options including monofocal, toric, extended depth of focus, and multifocal intraocular lenses. He is also trained in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) along with in-office laser treatments for glaucoma management. Additionally, he provides treatment via intravitreal injections and retinal laser for medical retina conditions including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vein occlusions.

Dr. Broxton was born and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia, where he graduated summa cum laude with degrees in both Cellular Biology and Economics. He was one of a select few students who received the prestigious Harrison Scholarship at the Medical College of Georgia. As a medical student, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his academic and clinical performance. He then completed both his internship and ophthalmology residency at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Texas. During residency, he had one of the highest resident cataract surgery volumes in the country while performing in the top 4% of residents nationwide on all written ophthalmic knowledge exams.

Despite his commitment to his profession, Dr. Broxton gets the most joy from his family and faith. He met his wife, Brandt, while in college at UGA, and they were married during his third year of medical school. They currently have one child, a son named Brooks, whom they welcomed into the world in 2025. In his spare time, Dr. Broxton enjoys watching college and professional sports, especially his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. He also enjoys reading about economics, playing board games, and watching movies with his family. He hopes to add exploring the vast trails and waterfalls of Western North Carolina to this list!
