Our Approach
The process for fitting you with the ideal contact lenses begins with an in-office assessment and review of your lifestyle habits. Before beginning your fitting, our contact lens team will discuss which lens options are ideal for your needs and review our fitting fees that are not included with routine eye care. We can then address any questions or concerns you may have. We will work with you until you feel satisfied with your final pair of contact lenses.
SOFT CONTACT LENSES – A variety of soft contact lenses are available for patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism. If you been told you have astigmatism there may be soft toric contact lenses to help correct your vision. Soft lenses are available in daily, weekly or monthly disposable options. We will help you determine which option is appropriate for your needs.
RIGID GAS PERMEABLES – Hard contact lenses made of fluorosilicone acrylate. While these lenses are not commonly used as a first line approach for fitting contact lenses they can in some cases can offer a number of advantages over soft contact lenses. Our doctors are experienced in fitting these complex lenses in both single vision and multifocal options.
MULTIFOCAL CONTACT LENSES – Multifocal contact lenses can help correct vision at all distances. They feature different lens powers throughout the contact lens, helping you see clearly. If you are over the age of 40 and can no longer see well to read, ask your doctor if multifocal lenses are an option for you.
SCLERAL LENS – We are one of the few practices in WNC to offer this highly specialized contact lens option. This requires expert knowledge and experience of fitting this type of lens. Scleral contacts lenses are used for the treatment of reduced vision related to such diseases such as keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, ectasia, post corneal transplants or corneal scarring causing vision distortion. Scleral lenses can be used in some cases as a treatment for severe dry eye. Scleral lenses are large-diameter contacts that vault over your cornea, resting on the sclera resulting in sharper vision, greater durability, and easier handling while creating a smooth optical surface. The final lens is a one of a kind, fully customized lens unique to each patients eye.
