LASIK is a refractive surgery that uses an excimer laser to precisely reshape the cornea producing clear vision. LASIK is the most commonly performed procedure for patients who want to decrease their dependence on glasses or contacts.

A LASIK consultant can determine if you are a good, safe, candidate for surgery. Contact lens wearers should not wear contacts for at least one week before the exam. Adults aged 21 and older with a stable refraction and no evidence of cataract or eye disease are usually candidates. Your surgeon will perform a thorough eye exam, answer questions, and discuss all possible risks.

LASIK is performed in our office using topical anesthesia with eye drops. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and is well tolerated. Patients can usually return to work the next day. Patients are examined the day after surgery and several follow up visits are required.
